Land O'Hope

So ... we've been gone for a few days. Back to the land of hospitals and doctors for a check-up. Back to the land where one could easily freeze one's patootie off if one is not careful. Back to the Land O'Beauty.

We came home with a few souveniers. First: These incredible pictures/memories taken by the Pdaddy. Second: Bellies chock-full of some of the finest seafood ... ever.

And last, but certainly not least: A Clean Bill of Health ... the go-ahead to Go Ahead.

Gratitude beyond words.

Mrs. Dub is right about the five years. This disease is tenacious and victory can be tentative. But, our approach all along has been to live life as normally as possible and just keep moving forward.

You can't drive in anticipation of an accident at every intersection or a robbery at every convenience store or bank or a terrorist act at every place of public gathering. Economically, politically, and safety-wise, after having been insulated from the ambiguity and insecurity most of the world has faced for years, we now have to adjust to finding happiness and peace in an environment that will be increasingly dangerous and unpredictable.

Similarly, with regard to this health challenge, we just have to go on with faith and hope that each new scan will continue to be clear, and enjoy the normalcy and blessing of each new day that current health gives us. If bumps or curves come along, we'll slow down and deal with them then, but not waste the good times worrying about possible bad ones. So, for now, all ahead full helmsman.
