just tryin' to absorb the vibes ...

So ... in preparation for the baby shower I was hosting in my home on Saturday I ...

a) Had my carpets cleaned.
b) Purchased the lovely pink roses pictured above, and
c) That is pretty much it.

You see, I was giving this shower for the daughter my my good friend, Kelley ... aka Glamma Fabulous. It is probably not neccessary to mention that she is ... Fabulous. And Talented. And Crazy Creative. And ... Generous. Let's just say that two of her five daughters catered the event and she provided all the centerpieces. I pretty much had to show up, which wasn't really hard because ... I live here.

These centerpieces were so very ingenious and there were not one, not two ... but three of them. Aren't they ... fabulous?

Let me also mention that she has five daughters who have inherited her wacky, wonderful ways. D#5 embellished these binkies and the diaper-wipe box.

Puts a touch of elegance into the art of dirty diapers, wouldn't you say?

We sat around until 4 in the afternoon, largely entertained by the antics and impressions of D#1 who had us laughing so hard, I'm suprised D#4 didn't go into labor ... right then and there.

So ... thank you my fabulous friend. And I just want you to know ... I did put those flowers into a vase all by myself ... really I did.

first of all... those (other) ess girls are all ridiculously witty, funny and talented. it's just annoying how much wit and talent each of them possesses. sorry, but i'm normal, so super-human abilities irk me since i have zero.

secondly, miss mary also MOVED the furniture in her house to have the carpets cleaned... and trust me, the furniture is heavy, so she possesses super-human strength, and i don't want to get into how that makes me feel (since i've already expressed it).

to top it off, miss mary made the awesomely adorable shower favors... so don't let her make you think that she did nothing b/c she's just too shy to show her talents...

or something like that.

The shower was so wonderful and I can't thank you enough for hosting it for me and letting us all sit around and hang out for so long. Everything was perfect!

I must speak up ...
a) Steph helped move all the furniture out of the room and Sonny Boy helped with both directions.

b)I forgot to mention the most ... MOST delicious chocolate chip cookies EVER. Thank you D#2. EVER.

c) I honestly forgot that I did the favors. It must have been that much fun. I'll post pics next time around.

Your photos are FAB! I'm coping them to add into the family scarpbook. I also "flattened" (and ate the treats inside) the wonderful favors you made. Thank you again my dear friend!

I loved that log cabin quilt in the background. It was a great accent for the centerpieces, and I'm sure it took a lot of work for you to get it ready just for the shower...

A day late and a dollar short, but here's my take and it doesn't suck:

Big D--a guy's guy...rock solid--intellectually, spiritually, morally...a flippin' BBQ and griddle genius...don't try to out-yarn or out-fish him

Big K--beautiful beyond belief... forever young...smile like sunshine...artistic talent a mile long...bearable only because she never sees how good she is

D#1--Rachel Ray meets Lorena McKenna and both get whipped...quicker witted than Robin Williams on a jet ski...super strong in every way

D#2--Andy McDowell beauty...master Mom...best friend you could ever have...livelier quips than Erma Bombeck (even when she was alive)

D#3--Farrah Fawcett if she was still young and was absent minded instead of mind absent...regal bearing, floats insteads of walks...sings like buttah or Barbra

D#4--Julie Covington & Patti LuPone tried, but this is Evita...they couldn't hit a softwall or blast a corner kick like she can...always smiling, always up for a challenge

D#5--Rebecca Romijin looks...Ugly Betty nice...better talent than Jeffrey Sebelia in fashion and tunes...future Vera Wang...but don't get in a dissing contest with her

This Ess Family...lucky and blessed to know that Ess Family
