So ... I want it clear from the start that I am grateful for all my many blessings. I am particularly thankful to live here in the Southwest where the sun shines with abandon.
But ... truth be told ... I have always had this dream about living in the country with lush, green, rolling hills ... and trees. Lots of trees. A view of some languid water in the distance wouldn't be bad either.
At certain times in my life I mistakenly thought that the picture above existed for some people and that I was somehow missing out. Apparently browsing through 3.8 Country magazines a day can cloud the brain into thinking that the simple life is indeed that. No one mentions that those homes need cleaning too or that fences need mending or that cows ... well you get the picture.
So, I have come to terms with the olive tree in my front yard and I appreciate the way it arches over the sidewalk. If I squint when I look at the clear blue water in my backyard I miss the fact that there's a pool cleaner meandering around. And, as for the cows ...
I'll pass.
Do magazines ever cloud your brain? I'm pretty sure it's a real disease.

I know exactly what you mean. Every year when that Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue comes out I start thinking ... well, never mind...olive tree, olive tree, olive tree...yeah, yeah that seems to work.
Magazines ruin my brain cuz' they make it easy to forget that even if you have "everything" you still have to put your pants on one leg at a time - unless you have a butler named Archibald to help- Its easy to forget that a Santa Barbara style mansion with distressed hickory floors and a party backyard on 5 acres isnt gonna make me a better person.I would like a cow and a horse someday and a dog that can catch a frisbee oh, and a big beautiful lush garden with a gazillion tomatoes and basil ...and no upkeep.ahh, to dream....
nice PDaddy nice...:)
hahahahha pdaddy is da BOMB!!!
love devz
pdaddy, I don't know if I'll ever be able to look you staight in the eye again........Anyway, yes, I LOVE to look at my artsy altered art magazines and just live in fairy land and shappy whiteness and a cottage just like your dream. If I look at them long enough, I really think I'm there. I took Xander and Blue to see "Spiderwyick" and I just wanted the scene with the old aunt and the "fairly flowers" to last forever.
My favorite mag thing is looking at great food set on great tables with great dishes, I just eat that up!
I just wanted to let pdaddy know that I still LOVE and RESPECT him, I LOVE his sense of humor. He's the BEST!!!!!! (I thought He might think I was serious in my last comment.....)XOXOXO!!!
