Don't think for one moment that I haven't started decorating yet!

So ... I am furiously working on the kitchen curtains ... Kevin is furiously working on the floors ... and some lady that I accidently blocked at CostCo is just furious.

Who cares!?! While I was there I picked up this scrumptious wreath with real greenery that is uber-fresh and smells like Heaven. I put it on the front door so it has some remote possibility of staying fresh, but I have already walked out there three times to take a little whiff.

I'll be honest. I would just love, love, love to have that aroma emanating from a real tree in my family room every year, but I got tired of going to bed at night wondering if it was really wise to have a tinder-box in the middle of my house. Seriously, I am somewhat of a paranoid person and my thought processes concerning the rapidly dying tree caused me to be uber-cranky.

I took the wreath that had been on my door and stuck in on the only available nail I could reach. What you aren't seeing in this lovely picture ... just to the right of the stairs in my entry-way ... is my stove. But that is wonderful news. That means my floors are completed in the family room and now inching through the kitchen.

While we wait for the official unveiling, let's dish. Real Tree or Fake Tree??

Go!!

FAKE! It just makes no sense to cut down a real tree, stick it in your house for a few weeks, then put it in the trash. But then again, I don't have either a real or a fake tree, so what do I know?

I love a real tree especially the smell. But for years, we couldn't figure out why our son was always sick at Christmas. Finally, it dawned on us - he was allergic to the tree. So, now it is a fake one (actually three). They are easier and make more sense. Sally

Wow - Ginny is swaying me, but my significant other is not sold. (It might have to do with the lack of storage space in our home.) We will probably go today and buy a real tree, only to take it down in 13 days. Sad.

I can't remember a year as far back as I can remember, that I haven't had a real tree. Of course I live in the Pacific NW and Christmas Tree farms are Prolific. So I suppose as long as I live here, I'll always have a real tree. The tradition of going out and picking out and cutting down the perfect tree, just can't be beat.

neither! ha.

if i were to ever get one, it'd be real. i'll never have the space for a fake one, and they're just as bad for the environment as chopping real ones down...

Actually, having no tree is the most environmentally sound. Live trees have a big carbon footprint when it comes to planting, feeding, harvesting, transporting, and disposal (king of like the corn for ethanol debacle), even though they are grown to be cut, can be mulched, and temporarily add some re-foresting. Artificial trees are even worse, though they are beginning to make them with less petroleum based, more biodegradeable materials and not coating them with lead if they aren't made in Asia.

But I can't see not having one, and the artificial ones are very convenient.

The remodeling project has me parking outside and using the front door. When I came home I didn't notice the new wreath until I spelled it. I get tired of natural and artificial pine aroma after awhile, but it was nice on the porch.

in the az, fake. too much work to have to worry about it drying up and burning the house down.

I do fake now, but long for the aroma of a real tree. Although I have to say that the last 10ish years when I have had a real one, it didn't seem to but off an aroma... LOVE that real wreath!!!!
