Bathroom Talk

So ... I have a couple points to touch on today ... and they all involve the bathroom. In a good way. Seriously.

Like this lovely picture of (fake) flowers from my bathroom. I love the white ... and the green. And the ... fresh.

Speaking of fresh, here is my latest acquisition from Bath and Body Works. It's their scent du saison, so I already know it will go away until next summer ... just like my all-time-favorite Dancing Waters did. This one is called rainkissed leaves, and it is just a green version of DW. But there is one little problem. The spray makes me choke. Like ... I have to spray and then hold my breath and then move to a different place before I inhale whatever it is that is floating in the air. All of that involves breaking a sweat, which is immediately counter- productive.

Has anyone else had this problem?

This last tidbit involves Park Tae-hwan from Korea, pictured above. PDaddy and I watched him win the gold in the 400mm freestyle on Saturday night. Before he raced, they told his story:

He was at the 2004 Olympics as a 14 year old. As the race was about to start (also 400mm freestyle) he literally ... jumped the gun. He dove into the pool, prematurely and was immediately disqualified. And then ... then ... he went into the men's room and stayed there for several hours, feeling very humiliated.

I have been there, haven't you? (I was there, as my most angst-ridden teenage moment came in Junior High when I got accidently locked in the restroom and had to scream until someone found a janitor. When I walked out ... a small ... snickering ... crowd had formed.) I did not go on to win a gold medal in Junior High. But I did ... go on. Just like Park.

That's it. Bathroom Talk. Inspiring and sweet smelling.

Just like success.

Weekend Updates

So . . . do you remember these guys? Blocks I made umpteen posts ago and I didn't know where I was taking them? Well, we have been on a little trip, (where some of them jumped out of the vehicle and hitched a ride to parts unknown) and picked up a few new friends along the way. Now they look like . . .

. . . this! (See below.) I was just as surprised as anyone that my clearly blue and yellow quilt picked up some . . . pink. Who knew? I don't exactly consider the pink to be . . . riff-raff . . . so the blues and yellows are not, like, grounded or anything.

Is the trip over? Oh, dear no. I had a sudden burst of inspiration while visiting this blog and am considering a bit of hand embroidery. That may also be inspiration to be reserved for another project, so don't hold me to it. (You have probably figured out by now that you can't really hold me to much.) As they say in the "update" biz . . . stay tuned.

Oh, and by the by . . . here is an update on my favorite new scent, Dancing Waters from Bath and Body Works, that was mentioned in a prior blog. Oh, you guessed it . . . it's no one else's favorite scent but mine. I went there yesterday to purchase some travel-sized portions, only to have to make the nice clerk scour the store to find the shelf and a half that held what was left of them.

Never fear, I had a back-up plan. My second favorite new scent turned out to be Sea Island Cotton (a derivative of Cotton Blossom, but much more pleasant, if you ask me.) Turns out everybody likes Sea Island Cotton, and there was a plethora of items to choose from. This may all sound silly from a girl who is going to be at the ocean in in less than 3 days.
I just like to smell nice, I tell you.

makes scents to me . . .

I really, really hope this doesn't come as a surprise to anyone who knows me . . . but I like to smell nice. I don't like an overwhelming smell, I just like a fresh smell. The problem is that I somehow have a body chemistry that keeps any scent that I apply to myself from lasting more than 7.65 minutes. And that just drives me crazy.

I once posed this quandry to the girl behind the perfume counter at the mall and she suggested that I "layer" my scents. Lotion + Perfume + Powder + something-more-I'm-sure. It didn't take me long to figure out that she was working on commission and that this daily routine was going to cost me my first born.

And then I discovered Bath and Body Works. Several years later and cupboards-worth of every scent they have sold during that duration and I have finally fallen in serious-scented-love. (Keep in mind that I have had the chance to sample every single scent they sell because they have this really tricky system of getting you to buy more than you intended to with 3/$10 and "buy 4 get 1 free" and a myriad of other potions that I fall for every . . . single . . . dang . . . time.)

So, in case you are interested, that scent is Dancing Waters. It's fresh and oceany -- with none of the seaweed. It's new so it only comes in Body Lotion and Body Splash and Eau De Toilette (ooh la la), but I will patiently await the hand soaps and body butters and room-plug-in-thingies. Problem is that sometimes they discontinue scents that aren't selling as well, so I am counting on you, my loyal readers (and mostly relatives) to buy some Dancing Waters so they don't discontinue it.

But, before you leave, what are your favorite B&BW scents? If you are not yet under their spell, what are some of your other favorite scents? I am very fond of garlic . . . and chocolate . . . but not together and not on my person.

Hmmmm . . . chocolate. Gotta go.
